Self Harm

Self harm is also know as self injury or self abuse as well. It is the action of one intending to hurt themselves without wanting to kill themselves. The most common forms of self harm that are seen among many teenagers is the use of cutting, hair pulling, or even burning. When someone is having aspects of self-harm they do not want others to know this is happening and find ways to conceal the self-harm.

Risk Factors

There are many risk factors associated with teens and young adults, listed below is some factors relating to adolescent mental health

- Substance or Alcohol abuse
- Self harm or suicidal ideation
- Peer Pressure
- Eating disorders
- Family pressure or conflicts and affecting one's mental health
- Bullying
- Sexual Activity
- Violence or Harm to another
- Poverty and Homelessness
- Relationships (social or intimate)
